Conservatory Vs Flat Roof Extension in Thornton, Cleveleys

Four Seasons Roof Systems recently completed the stunning transformation of an old conservatory into a flat roof extension in Thornton, Cleveleys complete with roof lantern. Our clients wanted a more usable space that felt like it was part of the house rather than added on. While conservatories provide a great additional room, they can often be of limited use as they are too cold during the winter and too hot in the summer so turning it into a brick structure with GRP roof can create an area of the house that can be used all year round.

We started the process of building the flat roof extension in Thornton, Cleveleys by removing the panels and existing frame of the conservatory, stripping it right back to leave just the brick base and foundations. This provided a great template for us to build on top of. We built the brick pillars on all three sides using an inner layer of breeze blocks and an outer layer of bricks that matched the existing ones used for the base of the conservatory.

The next part of building the extension was to install the timber roof frame and fit the windows and patio doors. Once all this was in place, we then installed the GRP roof with roof lantern. Fascia boards around the sides were fitted along with guttering.

Inside, the extension was insulated, and plaster boarded and then plastered ready to be painted. To see what it looked like before and after, check out the photographs included.
